Route 66

Route 66 is an iconic part of America. At least once in your lifetime you should travel the route and see all the fun attractions it has to offer you!

                    Memories in the making!

The original starting point was at Jackson Blud. and S. Michigan Ave. across from Grant Park. Berghoff Restaurant was the first restaurant to get a liquor license after the Prohibition. Berghoff started in 1898 and still runs today. It is the first historic restaurant on Route 66.

In Claremore, 30 miles Northeast of Tulsa, there is the Will Rogers Memorial Museum. Will Rogers starred in Broadway for 10 years, wrote a popular national newspaper column, and acted in more than 70 Hollywood movies. In 1935 he met his tragic ending in a plane crash. Afterwards his house and land was turned into a museum for all to see his amazing life.

Sandia Crest showcases a wacky and unique museum to keep Route 66 entertaining. It has an assembly of over 1,000 carved miniature wooden figures arranged in tiny stage sets to act out animated scenes. They have been working on them for over 50 years.

Tinkertown motto: “We did all this while you were watching TV.” -Ross and Carla Ward and family.

One of the wonders of the world! 60 miles (about 1 hour) from Route 66.

“The Grand Canyon is the only place on Earth that makes you want to look in all directions up, down, and side to side, all at the same time.” – David Hockney

In 1974, the unconventional Ant Farm Group, created Cadillac Ranch. It consists of 10 Cadillac cars half-buried nose-down in the ground facing East to West. They are multicolored with graffiti and located in Amarillo Texas.

Lake Havasus, AZ has a historical artifact! London Bridge was constructed in the 1830s. It was taken down when it could no longer handle London traffic. The stones were put up for sale in 1967. Robert McCalloch bought them for $2.4 million. It consists of 10,247 stones. They were shipped over and reassembled stone by stone. You can walk across the bridge and sample the Ye Olde England ambiance.
